This mandatory 2 hour training will introduce you to the Chicago Documenters community, starting with a walk-through of Documenters.org and our assignment workflow. You’ll practice core skills relevant to a range of assignments, learn about public meetings law, and collaborate with fellow Documenters.
Upon completion of this community-building workshop you’ll be eligible to apply for paid assignments with the Chicago Documenters program. We highly suggest signing up for Covering Your Local Government (https://chicago.documenters.org/workshops/chicago-documenters-covering-your-local-government-967/ ) which will include more details on note taking and live-tweeting, and include mock assignments.
We offer Covering your local government, interviewing and live-tweeting workshops to give you the support and preparation you need. Unless otherwise noted, these trainings are encouraged but not required for the related assignment.
It’s all happening Monday, January 22, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. CST at City Bureau’s office. Stop by early and enjoy some light refreshments!
